Programs

The Northwest Area Foundation supports efforts by the people, organizations, and communities to reduce poverty and build sustainable prosperity within our region. Grants are made to established and emerging nonprofit organizations that serve low-income populations in rural, urban, and Native American reservation communities.

We direct our resources to achieve asset- and wealth-building among low-wage earners. Our grants support strategies around that objective, including building capacity and leadership and improving public policy. In addition to making grants, we leverage our resources by fostering or joining coalitions; supporting and advancing existing initiatives; and sponsoring forums, research and advocacy.
