1. Part-Time IT Technician

The Northwest Area Foundation was founded in 1934 by Louis W. Hill. Our service region includes the eight states from Minnesota to Washington once served by the Great Northern Railway. Today the Foundation makes grants to support nonprofit organizations working to reduce poverty and achieve prosperity. NWAF is seeking an experienced professional to fill a part-time IT Technician opening. This position would work approximately 20 to 26 hours per week.

The IT Technician’s primary responsibility is desktop support, providing technical assistance to internal computer users, investigating and resolving computer software and hardware problems, including printers and connectivity issues, in a Windows 7 network environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Network Administrator with installing, configuring, and troubleshooting software and hardware issues on Windows 7 platform.
  • Resolving desktop software issues with users, including MS Office 2013.
  • Providing technical support for non-computer related technology at the Foundation (telephones, video conferencing, audio/visual resources, printers, iPads, etc).
  • Providing staff training on use of Foundation technology.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Our ideal candidate is a self starter who has proven work experience with leading PC and computer networking technologies. Microsoft experience is required. Candidate should have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • High level of customer service.
  • Minimum 2 years experience supporting MS Office products, Windows XP or 7 clients, installing and/or repairing computer hardware, and a variety of software applications.
  • Basic understanding of networking.
  • Experience with Apple iPads.
  • Microsoft certification and/or A+ certification are a plus.
  • Knowledge of Wi-Fi technology.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Associate degree or other technical certifications with equivalent experience preferred.
  • Flexibility to work very occasional evenings, weekends and/or overtime

2. Receptionist

The Northwest Area Foundation was founded in 1934 by Louis W. Hill. Our service region includes the eight states from Minnesota to Washington once served by the Great Northern Railway. Today the Foundation makes grants to support nonprofit organizations working to reduce poverty and achieve prosperity. NWAF is seeking an experienced professional to fill a Receptionist and Administrative Support position.

The Receptionist and Administrative Support position serves as the Foundation’s first link to the general public and key constituencies. This position also provides administrative support for the Office Management Team, the Executive Office, and other departments as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors and notify staff of their arrival
  • Answer incoming calls, provide information to callers and direct to appropriate staff
  • Maintain all Office Management systems such as temporary receptionist instruction book, sign-in sheets, the telephone entry access box, staff extension list, etc.
  • Manage general email boxes maintained by Office Management department
  • Execute daily responsibilities such as processing mail and check receipts, maintaining conference rooms and kitchen area, and printing conference room calendars.
  • Responsible for assisting with courier and shipping services, postage, taxi service and maintenance requests.
  • Schedule reoccurring meetings on staff calendars using Outlook
  • Responsible for working with external groups using the Foundation’s conference rooms, including responding to inquiries, scheduling rooms, room set up and clean up, greeting groups and explaining room logistics (lights, thermostat, blinds, technology).
  • Co-lead the planning and executing of annual Office Management sponsored events such as Staff Service Day and Food Drive
  • Annually assist in coordinating Emergency Evacuation exercises and update emergency guidelines and the Business Continuity Plan; participate as a Floor Steward for emergency response
  • Manage and order office and beverage supplies, including the processing and distribution of supplies and processing invoices. Regularly communicate with vendors for scheduling of products.
  • Manage the employee recognition awards program.
  • Actively participate in the Office Management Department goal planning and budgeting processes.
  • Assist the Executive Office and President with Board meeting planning and execution. Additional duties may include arranging travel and processing travel expenses.
  • Assist other departments with administrative duties as requested.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Minimum 5 years office and receptionist experience.
  • Excellent telephone, communication and customer service skills.
  • Reliable and organized, with the ability to manage time and prioritize projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Professional with high standards regarding accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Ability to use experience and good judgment to make appropriate decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with staff and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a “team framework.”
  • Outstanding judgment, initiative, drive, and the capacity to get things done.
