Mr.William Thorndike



Thorndike is president and Chairman of Medford Fabrication / CSC Inc., a 60-year-old company that offers a diverse range of metal fabrication, assembly, installation and finishing services. The company employs 60 people at its Medford, Oregon, facilities.

Thorndike was appointed to the Port of Portland Commission in December 2001, and as chair of the Oregon Health Fund Board as of September 2007. He serves as chair of Pacific Retirement Services and vice-chair of the Asante Health System. He serves on the following boards: The Oregon Business Council, Jackson County SMART Advisory Council, Safety Net Advisory Council, The Nature Conservancy in Oregon, Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon Community Board, and Crater Lake National Park Trust.

His past involvement includes chairing the following organizations: The Oregon Community Foundation, The Oregon Business Council, SAIF Corporation, Oregon Metals Industry Council, Governor’s Quality Education Commission, Coalition for Schools, Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, Chamber of Medford – Jackson County, Jackson County Budget Committee, Oregon Business Plan Steering Committee, Southern Oregon University Foundation, ODOT Innovative Finance Taskforce and the Rogue Valley Civic Index Project.

A Medford public school graduate, Thorndike attended Simon Fraser University, British Columbia, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lewis & Clark College, Portland, Oregon, in 1976. He is a senior fellow of the American Leadership Forum - Oregon Chapter, 1994.

Thorndike has received numerous awards over the years, including SBA Exporter of the Year for Oregon (1990), President’s Medal from Southern Oregon University (1996), Champion Award from Northwest Business Committee for the Arts (1997), Friend of Education from the University of Oregon (1997), Philanthropy Award from Pacific Nonprofit Network (1998), Person of the Decade from Jackson County Human Services Consortium (2000), Rose Otte Award from Oregon Alliance of Children’s Programs (2005), Willamette University Glenn L. Jackson Leadership Award (2006), the SOLV Tom McCall Leadership Award (2006), and the First Citizen Award Medford / Jackson County Chamber of Commerce (2007).

A third-generation Oregonian, he lives with his wife, Angela Littlefield, in rural Jackson County.
