Our grantmaking supports organizations building social, racial, and economic justice—helping communities within our region of eight states and 76 Native nations thrive on their own terms. They’re advancing long-overdue change in deep connection with the land they inhabit and communities they serve—Native Americans, communities of color, immigrants, refugees, and people in rural areas.

Headwaters Foundation for Justice of Minneapolis will receive $500,000 over two years to support pooled grantmaking efforts focused on Native communities, Black communities, and social justice-focused nonprofits in Minnesota. Grant funds will also support core operations work related to administering these funds and providing tailored assistance to organizations. Grant term: Jan. 1, 2024 – Dec. 31, 2025
Local Initiatives Support Corporation of Duluth, MN, will receive $250,000 over two years to support a project that assists local communities of color in the Duluth area through entrepreneurship, convening, and visibility. Grant term: Jan. 1, 2024 – Dec. 31, 2025
Minnesota Museum of American Art of St. Paul, MN, received $100,000 to restructure a loan that supports Phase I of its two-phase renovation project. Grant term: Jan. 1, 2024 – Dec. 31, 2024
Opportunity Link of Havre, MT, will receive $400,000 over two years to support its work in economic development, sustainability of local food systems, housing and infrastructure development, and access to broadband technology. Grant term: April 1, 2024 – March 31, 2026
Oregon Native American Chamber of Portland, OR, will receive $250,000 over two years to support its Native economic revitalization efforts across Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Grant term: Feb. 1, 2024 – Jan. 31, 2026
Working Partnerships Incorporated of Minneapolis, as fiscal sponsor for Workers Confluence Fund of Minnesota, will receive $450,000 over two years to support the Confluence’s efforts to strengthen the collaboration among Minnesota-based organizations interested in building worker power through a worker-centered movement with, and on behalf of, workers in low-wage jobs.
