Matt oversees the Foundation’s financial reporting, audit and tax compliance, internal controls, and financial systems. He also collaborates with the Foundation’s investments and human resources teams on key financial matters, all in service to the Foundation’s grantees and in alignment with its mission, vision, and values.
He brings over fifteen years of accounting and finance experience to his role, having developed specialties in nonprofit accounting and tax compliance during his eight years in public accounting. He’s had the privilege of serving many of Minnesota’s largest foundations in various capacities: auditor, tax advisor, and contracted CFO/controller.
Matt has recently served as treasurer for the Minnesota Council on Foundations and as a finance committee member for Philanthropy Northwest.
Additionally, he’s a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and entrepreneurship from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.
In his spare time, Matt enjoys deep thinking and big topics, including learning from technical experts, artists, and those with unique perspectives.
