“You are growing into consciousness, and my wish for you is that you feel no need to constrict yourself to make other people comfortable.” — Ta-Nehisi Coates, Between the World and Me
Anna processes a wide range of financial transactions for the Foundation. She enjoys working in accounting because it allows her to exercise her critical thinking skills and develop unique relationships with her coworkers and colleagues.
She brings six years of property accounting experience and a bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota to her position. She believes learning is a lifelong journey and tries to seize every opportunity to improve her personal and professional skills.
Accounting isn’t a 9-to-5 job for Anna. It plays an important role in her personal life, as well: she’s a passionate advocate for financial literacy in communities of color. She helps others by tapping into her own experience and sharing how budgeting—which she had zero experience with before college—made it possible for her to overcome her financial naivete and rise above the weight of daunting student loans.
Anna enjoys reading (psychology books are her go-to), traveling (to kid-friendly destinations), cooking (appetizers, dips, and any party foods that can feed a group of people), and spending time with her family.
