Our mission investments complement grantmaking to impact community change in our region of eight states and 75 Native nations.
Through mission investing, we’ve advanced our mission in ways that go beyond grantmaking to put resources from our endowment to work for the people in our region. Our approach creates both economic and social returns, helping to build assets in communities so can they achieve economic, social, and cultural prosperity.
Our mission investments are aligned with our grantmaking strategy to increase good jobs and financial capability. We’ve committed $40 million to mission investments. That’s about 10 percent of our endowment.
We’ve been making mission investments since 2004 and have rigorously measured their social and economic impact since 2006. The level of our commitment, the way we measure impact, and how we align investments with our grantmaking are a few of the qualities that make our mission investing distinctive.
